pfSense - how to access web configurator? in Help

Looking to setup a virtual network of pfsense ---> windows server. Would like to be able to setup VPN on pfSense and provide no public IP to windows.

I've installed pfSense, but not sure how do I access the web configurator? Once I have setup the VPN, this becomes a non-issue, but I have to start somewhere.

Only thought I had was to set up a temporary VPS with windows or a Linux variant running a graphical shell, access the webconfigurator via private IP, setup VPN (test) and then destroy the temp VPS.

Am I missing something? Is there another (better?) way?

  • on the CLI, pick option 3 to change the webGUI password.

Then on a shell (option 6 or 7 from memory), you can use:

    easyrule pass wan tcp x.x.x.x y.y.y.y 443
    easyrule pass wan tcp x.x.x.x y.y.y.y 80

x.x.x.x being the remote party (you), y.y.y.y being the WAN IP on the pfsense instance. obviously adjust the X's and Y's to your IPs.

That should provide you access to the webGUI.

Set up your VPN, test it, then delete the pass rules you created.
