Firewall rules not propagating? in Help

edited April 2018 in Help
I configured my server's firewall to accept TCP traffic on 443 from anywhere, but I still can't reach it on that port using telnet or curl. Port 80 is open and reachable using both tools. How come the firewall rules don't seem to be updating? I waited 120 seconds to check like the confirmation message suggested.

This is what I see when I try to connect publicly:
telnet: Unable to connect to remote host: Connection refused

Telnetting locally from the machine gives a different result:
[root@vultr ~]# telnet 127.0.0.1 443
Trying 127.0.0.1...
Connected to 127.0.0.1.
Escape character is '^]'.
Connection closed by foreign host.

  • Nevermind, turns out there was an additional firewall (firewalld) on my CentOS box...
