Urgent: CoreOS no longer being supported

As of 26 May 2020 CoreOS is no longer being maintained or supported. For those of us hosting websites and applications on virtual servers running CoreOS, this is a significant problem.

Flatcar Linux is a fork of CoreOS which is being actively maintained. It would avoid having to re-architect our systems if we could switch to that. Are there any plans to make this available? If so, when will this happen? If not, are there any plans in place to offer some kind of alternative to CoreOS? Continuing to offering an OS which is not being actively maintained is not a good option.

  • Just so you know, Fedora CoreOS is the planned upgrade path for former Container Linux (CoreOS) users. At least that is what the Container/Red Hat team is hoping.
