Snapshot ip configuartion

Hi there,

I am stucked at network configuration soon after restoring snapshot of my server which is hostied here on vultr

Currently using wordops for wordpress on Ubuntu right after restoring the snapshot to the new deployed server I am seeing the page of nginix. Error

I tried to delete that file. Wit this code

Rn /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules

And i am getting error as the file permission is 644

I tried so many ways to change the permission but i failed to do so.

I just wanted to get my new deployed server up and running using old server snapshot on vultr

Am i doing it a wrong way or am i missing something in between

  • Hello,

It sounds like you need to be root, or use sudo.

  • I am tired of seeing these links, these link says

    • Remove the contents of /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules

But how could i do? Why vultr didn't mention the proper way to do it i even found a way to delete this by command

    Rn /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules

But error occurs say permission denied.

How could i change permission why there isnt proper guide from scratch for a beginner?

I just wanted to restore my snapshot to another server and how could I do so could anyone please explain the entire way of doing this it would appreciated

  • Thank you for pointing out this documentation issue, we will investigate and update it shortly.

  • The immutable attribute is set on that file. We've updated the documentation to include this instruction:

    • Remove the immutable attribute from /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules.
    # chattr -i /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules

    Please help

A restored snapshot will receive a different IP address. Unless you used the Reserved IP feature, it's not possible to use the old server's IP address. https://www.vultr.com/docs/vultr-reserved-ips

The Nginx issue sounds like a good candidate question to post on https://serverfault.com/ or https://stackoverflow.com/ and tag Vultr. We monitor topics that tag Vultr on Stack Exchange and consult with the experts in those communities for questions not directly related to Vultr's infrastructure.
