Unable to resolve host vultr.guest? in Help

edited August 2015 in Help
I'm pretty new to hosting and this is my first time setting everything up. I used this guide to install LAMP on to Ubuntu https://www.vultr.com/docs/how-to-install-apache-mysql-and-php-on-ubuntu and it seemed to work but I kept getting the message "Unable to resolve host vultr.guest" during the install. Then I tried to restart apache using "sudo service apache2 restart" and got the same message. What am I doing wrong?

  • It sounds like at some point you (or the setup process) set your VPS's hostname to be "vultr.guest" which isn't a valid fully qualified domain name. What you should probably do is edit the /etc/hostname file and replace "vultr.guest" with the domain name you plan to use to access your website. For example "mysite.com".
