Providing subdomain with server

edited June 2014 in Features and Ideas
Good evening vultr,

I want to suggest that you provide a .vultr.com (or similar) subdomain for each server. Currently, the default rDNS entry is set to 8.8.8.8.vultr.com (if 8.8.8.8 is the IP of the server), and this "subdomain" doesn't resolve on the server's IP address which might cause trouble when you use applications that rely on the FQDN.

I suggest that you provide a subdomain as hostname, something like 8-8-8-8.vultrinstance.com or something like $serverid.vultr.com.

Best regards

  • You can change the reverse DNS of your IPs via your control panel. We'd suggest you set it to something that you control, so you can create the corresponding forward DNS entries. There are some issues (mainly related to abuse) that currently prevent us from providing default forward-DNS entries.
